Children and Youth Ministry
Our children and youth are an integral part of Hills of Peace. We encourage
our younger members to get involved in the church in a meaningful
way. To this end, the following are just a few of the programs
that have been established.
Sunday School
Hills of Peace Sunday School allows the children of our congregation
to explore their faith in a classroom setting.
Classes run each Sunday during worship from September to the end of
May. All children aged three through grade six are welcome.
The Sunday School program follows the church year and uses the readings
in the service to help the children to connect their faith with their
daily living.
Children’s
Sermon
A highlight of our services, while primarily aimed at the children, the
children’s sermon has
become a learning tool for us all.
Confirmation
Confirmation classes run from September to Pentecost Sunday (late May
or Early June). Generally all confirmation students begin their classes
when they enter seventh grade at school and they attend classes for
two years.
Vacation
Bible Study
A week long,
half day bible school that offers children a chance to develop their
faith,
meet new friends and/
or reconnect with church friends over the summer.
Kids Club
Responding to a need identified by the Children and Youth Ministry,
this program was developed to target children in grades 3 – 6, providing
a safe and fun “hang-out” on alternating Friday nights.
Activities that the kids might enjoy during club nights include:
baking, woodworking, drama, theatre sports, drumming, board games,
pool, and
ping pong.
Special Events Team
Events such as scavenger hunts, bowling, and “Talent Night” give
our youth a chance to get together with members of all ages for fellowship
and fun.
College and Careers group
Our pastor spends a half day a week at the Thompson Rivers University
campus and is developing this program with this group.
