Helping Roles

On Sunday mornings, a wide range of volunteers contribute to our worship time together!

Greeters welcome people as they arrive at the church and provide them with a song book and bulletin program.

Hosts prepare coffee, tea, and maybe a baked treat to enjoy after the service.

Altar Guild members prepare the worship space and altar for communion and seasonal liturgical worship.

Ushers help to arrange seating, receive the offering, guide worshippers forward during communion, and count the attendees.

A Church Council Representative leads announcements at the start of the service.

A lector (reader) reads the Old Testament and New Testament readings for the morning.

The cantor sings any “leader” parts in the worship service and leads the congregation in the chanting or reading of the psalm.

Sunday School teachers help with music, story-telling, and crafts for children.

A hymnist has chosen the hymns (songs) for the worship time.

A young acolyte lights all the candles and helps with small tasks during worship.

An assisting minister assists the pastor by leading prayers, helping to serve communion, and guiding the acolyte.

A musician leads our liturgical music and hymn singing on the piano.

The pastor welcomes everyone to worship, preaches the sermon, presides over communion, leads a children’s message, guides the congregation through worship time, and greets everyone at the end of the service time.

If you would like to assist in worship or with preparing for Sunday mornings, please contact the office or speak with our pastor.
