Membership at Hills of Peace

Anyone who wishes may come to Hills of Peace to attend worship or our community events.
You are welcome here, and may be a part of our church family without needing to enroll as
an official member. Whether you are with us for a first visit, as a long-time attendee, or
somewhere in between, you are welcome here. Whether you want to keep coming or are
just stopping by to check-us-out, you are welcome here. Whether you affirm your faith or
are in the midst of self-discovery, you are welcome here.

All who are welcome here may freely attend worship with us, play and engage in community
activities, learn and study with us, ask questions, and be respected and safe. This is all part
of our shared life at Hills of Peace.

In addition, official members of Hills of Peace may also:

  • Vote in the Annual General Meeting of the church
  • Serve on our church council
  • Ways to Become a Member

If you would like to become and official member of our church, there are three possibilities:

  • Transfer of membership from another Lutheran, Anglican, or Moravian congregation
    OR
  • Baptism into the Body of Christ: At any age, we welcome you to be baptized during a
worship service. Please contact our pastor for more information. OR
  • Through the Affirmation of Baptism if you have been baptized previously, in the
name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
  • Affirmation of Baptism and New Memebers

In our congregation, we invite you to participate in a series of 5–7 classes around themes of
Christian history, Lutheran teachings, worship, sacraments, and theology. Known as “Adult
Catechumenate” classes, these sessions introduce adults to Lutheranism (ELCiC) and
explore what it is that we believe as Christians.

Anyone is welcome to take part in this series of classes.  At the end of the series, all those
who wish to do so are invited to join the congregation with the Affirmation of Baptism rite
(also reviewed in the classes) during Sunday worship time.

    Still have Questions?

Our pastor is always available to talk about membership and joining our congregation.
